RuggedRebels list of the best 8 beards in Westeros
Trying to pinpoint the best beard in the world of Game of Thrones is like trying to find something tasty in the bacon aisle. You could pretty much pick ANYTHING and win.
With the season premiere, we’ve got lots more questions than answers… and a feast for the eyes when it comes to truly magnificent facial hair. Sifting through all of the manly men of Game of Thrones ultimately led us to choose winners for several different categories. Let’s see if you agree with our determinations on who has the best beard in the world of Game of Thrones.
Most Creative Beard
Rodrik Cassel was the master-at-arms at Winterfell during the first two seasons. Rodrik sported a white double-ponytail-joined-under-the-chin beard. It’s not exactly our style, but it’s certainly a unique and memorable look. His bare chin and super long chops have won him the Most Creative Beard award.
Most Santa Claus-Like Beard
Rickard Karstark’s gray beard flows out at every angle with impressive volume and length. Even though he was killed off in season three, Rickard wins the Santa Claus Beard award.
Most Wizardly Beard
Grand Maester Pycelle’s long, white beard distinguishes him as the most wizardly GOT character. He’s just missing a pointy hat and a magic wand!
Most Metro Beard
As far as Khal Drogo’s beard is concerned, we can do without the ponytail holders. But combine his flowing mane, his long beard, and his abundant use of eyeliner, and we have to give Khal Drogo the Most Metrosexual Beard award. And despite the makeup, we also vote him the GOT character most likely to steal your girl.
Prince Oberyn Martell earns a spot on the list as the runner-up for the Most Metro Beard. With a minimal moustache and thin line of a beard, his is an understated metrosexual look that’s worthy of mention.
Most Terrifying Beard
That reminds us…we have to put The Mountain – aka Ser Gregor Cleagane – on the list, simply to stay on his good side, in case he feels inclined to crush our heads with his bare hands. He does have a respectable beard, but what else would you expect from a character played by a guy who broke a thousand year old strongman record described in an ancient Icelandic saga?
Most Distinguished Beard
Ser Davos Seaworth has a beard with the very best color variation in the world of GOT; it’s also a respectable yet manageable length. Davos was born into poverty but built a name for himself through thievery, er… bravery. He also served as a trusted advisor to Stannis Baratheon. This guy has earned his distinguished beard.
Best In Show
Tormund Giantsbane, the ginger wildling with the thick, flaming red beard, wins our Best In Show Beard Award. For color and volume, he wins hands down. There is no contest. Now will he and the rest of the Free Folk prove to be friend or foe to the Knight’s Watch? We hope we find out the truth in season six.
There you have it: our list of the best beards in the world of Game of Thrones. We have been impressed with the spectacular facial hair offered up on GOT so far. Stay tuned to see how the beard list looks after season six! Now watch Tormund get his beard shaved!
