What is beard conditioning oil and why do I need it?
Beard conditioning oil, or more commonly known in the United States as just Beard Oil, is a moisturizer for your beard. Proper use of a good quality beard oil will not only help your beard to be soft to the touch but it can also provide a pleasant smell and help tame your beard hairs.
I’ve had different beard lengths in my lifetime, from light stubble to a full yeard growth. The one constant in any stage of beard growth, in my opinion, is the need for beard oil. The best quality oils are made from natural ingredients and are usually a combination of several key oils.
If you have a wiry beard or have been told you look like you belong under a bridge somewhere a good beard oil will help you. I use beard oil after I get out of the shower. A few drops will go a long way with any oil and the same is true for your beard. Massage in the oil and use a beard brush or comb to really get the oils down to the skin under your beard.
Daily use of a beard oil has significantly reduced my beard itch in the early stages of my beard as well as help to keep my beard hairs going in the right direction.
Percy Nobleman has created a beard oil that I wanted to try. They’ve been around since 2013 and their beard oil has been “2 years in the making”. They use high quality, natural ingredients in their oil. Their product description states that I can “tame my beard once and for all”. Those are some bold words so I put them to the Rugged Rebels test.
You can purchase Percy Nobleman Beard Conditioning Oil from Amazon.com. The price at the time of writing this review is $17.99, subject to change. The product currently has 78 reviews and a 4.8 star rating. As with all of our reviews here at Rugged Rebels we don’t always trust the ratings given for a product as even with Amazon you can buy reviews. We’d rather put the product to the test.
The product came in the standard Amazon box. I’m always amused at how large the box will be for the item they are shipping. However, the Beard Conditioning Oil product box is very professional and clean. I like products that take the time to do proper marketing and value adds such as a nice product box.
I was really impressed with what was inside the box as well. They had the usual cartoon/comic strip that is in all their products and emails as well as a pin with their logo on it. The surprise of the pin made me feel a little more appreciated as a customer. I’m not sure what I’m going to do with the pin, maybe add it to my flare lanyard or add it to my motorcycle vest.
The bottle is 3.38 fl.oz in size which is larger than any other product I’ve seen by more than an ounce. Other similar products are within the 1-2 fl.oz range. That being said, their price is right in line with other products so you get more beard oil for less money.
- Paraffinum Liquidum
- Argania spinosa kernel oil
- Prunum amygdalus dulcis oil
- Simmodsia chinensis seed oil
- Ricinus communis seed oil
- Persea gratissima oil
- Nigella sativa seed oil
Let’s be frank here, I am not even going to attempt to pronounce these ingredients. This is a very different approach from other beard oils that I’ve seen on the market. Most other oils are going for more natural, recognizable and pronounceable ingredients. With all the natural, easy to say ingredients out there this oil may have a harder time in this country.
Like any beard oil I’ve tried in the past I use a few drops every morning after getting out of the shower. Depending on my beard length I will either rub it in with my hands or put the oil directly on my beard and work it in using one of my beard combs.
As with other oil’s that we’ve reviewed, the pump isn’t condusive to putting directly in your beard as it tends to make a mess if you do that. But, if you put a squirt on your fingers you can rub it in to the beard. This is the most effective way to get the oil into your beard however, it leaves some oil still on your hands when you are done.
Repeated daily use is best for this type of product. I love they way it smells, it’s subtle and not overpowering. The results after 1 use are promising as you can feel the difference in your beard immediately after putting it in. After 1 week of use my beard is much softer and my girlfriend loves to touch my beard now.
I give Percy Nobleman’s Beard Conditioning Oil a solid 4 stars. They have a few things they could improve on to make it a good 5 star product in my opinion. The ingredient list for one as most US manufactured oils are going the natural, recognizable route. And the delivery system for another. Between, pumps, sprays, droppers and shaker bottles the dropper is still my favorite based on ease of use and getting the oil down to the skin where it is needed most.
I most certainly would recommend this to my friends and have already had to snatch it back from one of my co workers.
